European stock indices were mixed at the start of trading this week, as investors awaited a meeting between regional leaders and US President Donald Trump to discuss the Ukraine crisis.
During Monday's session, the Stoxx Europe 600 index settled at 553 points, with gains in utilities stocks and losses in the mining and defense sectors.
While the UK's FTSE 100 rose 0.2% to 9,155 points, the German DAX fell 0.35% to 24,277 points, and the French CAC 40 fell by almost the same amount to 7,896 points.
European leaders, including German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, French President Emmanuel Macron, and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, along with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, are traveling to Washington to meet with Trump today and discuss a possible peace agreement with Russia, according to CNBC
