Expected decline in renewable energy supply in Germany threatens price increases

A decline in renewable energy supply, combined with rising energy demand in Germany and France, is expected to drive up prices next week.

Data from LSEG showed that wind power production in Germany is projected to drop sharply by 12.2 gigawatts, reaching 9.8 gigawatts on Monday. In contrast, wind output in France is expected to rise by 490 megawatts to reach 1.7 gigawatts.

Solar energy production in Germany is forecasted to fall by 660 megawatts to 14.7 gigawatts, while French solar output is expected to decline by 1.6 gigawatts to 3.8 gigawatts, according to Reuters.

On the demand side, energy consumption in Germany is anticipated to increase by 1.8 gigawatts to reach 51.1 gigawatts on Monday, while demand in France is expected to rise by 2.5 gigawatts to 40.2 gigawatts
