US President Donald Trump hinted at imposing increased tariffs on additional countries that buy energy from Russia, including China, after stating on Tuesday that he would raise tariffs on Indian exports within 24 hours.
When asked by reporters whether he would follow through on his previous threat to impose tariffs on additional countries, including China, Trump said, "We're going to do a lot of that. We'll see what happens in the next little while," according to Bloomberg.
However, he claimed he had not specified a percentage to impose on Russia's trading partners, adding, "We have a meeting with Russia, and we'll see what happens. We'll make our decision then."
US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff is expected to travel to Russia for meetings this week with Russian officials, ahead of Trump's August 8 deadline for Moscow to reach a truce with Ukraine
