Oil prices rise on trade optimism and the possibility of sanctions on Russia

Oil prices rose slightly on Tuesday, extending the previous session's sharp gains, driven by optimism that President Donald Trump's global trade war is easing, as well as increased risks of additional tariffs on Russia.

Brent crude futures for September delivery rose 0.5% to $69.64 a barrel, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude futures rose 0.5% to $67.07 a barrel
