The British economy is recovering more strongly than initially estimated after the pandemic

The UK economy has experienced a stronger recovery from the pandemic than previously estimated, according to revised official estimates from the Office for National Statistics.

The updated figures show that GDP in the fourth quarter of 2023 was 2.2% higher than at the end of 2019, up from the previous estimate of 1.9%.

The ONS data also revealed that the economic contraction during the first year of the pandemic was less severe than initially thought.

The UK economy contracted by 10% instead of the previously announced 10.3%
