The euro holds above a six-week low amid French hopes

The euro rose on Thursday against a basket of global currencies, consolidating above a six-week low against the US dollar. It is on track to achieve its first daily gain in the past four days, as buying activity from low levels continues, in addition to growing hopes for a resolution to the political crisis in France, as French President Emmanuel Macron approaches the appointment of a new prime minister.

Euro exchange rate today: The euro rose about 0.2% against the dollar to $1.1648, from the opening price of $1.1628 today, and reached a low of $1.1619
